“Being an asshole”
September 1st, 2008Ok, that’s what I call it, not “Ordering from the secret menu”, but it’s cool to see someone write up something I’ve been doing for years. The other huge benefit to ordering something not on the menu, or even making a small change to something you order off the menu is the fact that they HAVE to make you fresh food, they can’t just grab you the BigMac that’s been sitting under the heat lamps. I always feel like a punk when I ask for a custom order if the place looks busy, but I’m sure the regular empoyees don’t mind too much, if anything, it breaks up the routine a little. I’m sure the managers know it effecrs their bottom line though and probably frown on it though. As always, shit runs down hill.
Found this from one of my favorite cesspools of all things interwebz. Reminds me of a video I saw a while back of a guy who ordered a salad, and a chicken sandwich off the dollar menu to make a chicken salad, and then a sundae and an apple pie to make an apple pie sundae. Sounds like a good meal for $4. Can’t find the video unfortunately, I’ll update if I do. I like that one because for some reason, chicken is one of the few foods I trust at McDonalds, and hey, it’s got salad in the name, it’s got to be good for you. I’m not really sure why, now that I think about it. Something about it being difficult to fuck up chicken, but this IS McDonalds we’re talking about.

Windows Media Player on Dual Monitors
June 21st, 2007I recently had the same problem posted here.
“Windows Media player does something strange when you run on a dual monitor setup. Suppose you are watching a web demo that has the WMP Video Control embedded on the page. When the presentation starts, the video comes up full screen on the second monitor! The same thing happens with non-web-enabled WMP video content. So if you double-click on an AVI file, you will see it in a small WMP window on one monitor and full-screen on the other.
Does anyone know how to stop this behavior? Ideally it should be something I can control on the fly. It is very annoying when you don’t want it, but useful when you do want it.”
Turned out it wasn’t just under WMP, but under WMP Classic also. I realized then that it’s a function of the video card and not the software. I disabled it by going to Display Properties (under Control Panel) > Settings Tab > Advanced button > Quadro FX2500 M (my video card) > Full Screen Video (on the tree on the left) > Full Screen Device (drop down menu) > Disable. Mileage will vary with your video card, but it is a feature of the video adapter and NOT WMP.

June 21st, 2007I’m not really sure of the etiquette for something like this. Gregg sent me an IM linking to this, and I don’t know where on teamsugar.com it comes from, so I’m re-hosting the image so as not to steal bandwidth. If it’s your image and you don’t want it up here feel free to elt me know:

via [TEAMSUGAR?], I couldn’t view it, filtered at work. Hopefully it’s not porn, or hopefully it is. Depends.

God is a DJ
August 13th, 2006…and he gave me this. It’ll be in my equipment rack as soon as it’s available in November, be sure of that. Anyone who’s seen me play out knows I use Rane Serato’s Scratch Live, but for the parties I do where a show isn’t called for, this will be my rig of choice for sure. If you didn’t need a huge collection of tracks to DJ, I’d be worried about competition or something.

Break Out Artist
March 1st, 2006Check this video from M.I.A. Just saw it on MTV Hitz (yes, they added a THIRD channel, and this one actually plays music videos [for now]).
via Music Video Code
Funny thing is I’d heard of M.I.A. before, I saw Aziz Ansari (very funny guy) at Invite Them Up and he did a bit on a previous bit (see below) he had done with the host Eugene Mirman (check out the Sexpert video, I almost hurt myself laughing at Eating It [possibly down]). It all makes sense after you check out the linkage, and you will easily kill an hour at these sites.
